Hanson Hill Doodle Dogs grew out of homeschooling our children. We have four children, the “Bigs” and the “Littles,” with a boy and a girl in each pair. When the Bigs were still homeschooled, they each received a purebred Labrador Retriever, with our daughter naming hers Muffin Cupcake, and our son calling his Buster. Before long, our friends and relatives decided they wanted dogs like Muffin and Buster, so my husband Ron and I agreed that breeding our Labrador Retrievers would be an excellent opportunity for our big kids to learn responsibility and entrepreneurship. The Bigs loved this endeavor and learned many essential life skills while also earning a bit of money. When the Littles were old enough, they clamored for their own dogs. Enter Samantha Petunia Peach and Oscar BamBam Van Gogh Hanson, our first Doodles. (Yes, the Littles each chose the names of their dogs.) Our first litter from Sam & Oscar came along in 2017, perfectly timed so that they were the ideal age at our daughter’s wedding here on Hanson Hill, as pictured below.
We have been breeding Doodle Dogs ever since, carefully choosing the pups and bloodlines we will include in our breeding program. We’ve branched out from Goldendoodles to also include Springerdoodles and Irish Doodles. The joy and fulfillment of living around these wonderful animals and simultaneously providing families with exquisite, well-socialized pups are priceless. Ron & I are now newly-minted empty-nesters, and the Bigs and Littles are off on their own adventures, but we are not ready to let the Doodle adventure end. It’s too fun! Placing gorgeous, healthy puppies into the arms of excited families will never get old.
Living in the country with plenty of room for animals, it was hard to deny each of our four children their own dog (as long as they promised to be responsible for them). We all loved dogs and got so much joy from living with them. Our older two children had chosen Labrador Retrievers, but our younger children had their eyes set on a dog breed that we had seen only online – a Goldendoodle! We had seen pictures of these amazingly gorgeous, fluffy dogs that were reportedly non-shedding (!) and hypo-allergenic (!!) and perfect family dogs. Wow! Where could we possibly get one of these wonderful creatures!? We scoured the internet for breeders of these rare creatures and found one in eastern Washington, just in time for our youngest daughter Lindy’s birthday. Managing to keep news of the puppy a secret, we went on a mystery trip, meeting the breeder halfway on Lindy’s birthday. What a wonderful birthday that was for Lindy! Lindy named her dog Samantha Petunia Peach Hanson; she was everything we had heard a Goldendoodle could be. We couldn’t help but adore her – she was just so stinkin’ cute! Samantha Petunia Peach was so fantastic that we had to have another Doodle. Our son Gabe picked out Oscar from a breeder in Idaho. And the rest is Hanson Hill Doodle Dogs history. We were so smitten with our Doodles that we knew there needed to be more of these fabulous animals in the world so more people could experience the doggy joy that we were experiencing! Sam and Oscar are retired from breeding now, but they are still living their best lives here on Hanson Hill with us.

She absolutely loves it when the grandkids come over and will play fetch for hours. She will always bring the ball back to the one throwing. She loves to play hide and seek and is really good! Ruby is a very sensitive dog and is able to detect when someone is suffering physically or emotionally. She was so concerned while an elderly relative was at home on hospice and would carefully jump in the bed with her just and lay next to her. Deuxieme Francois le Deuxieme, “Deuxy” for short (sounds like “Doozy”) is a little guy who lives up to his big name. And there’s quite a story behind that name. (Ask me sometime!) Doggies don’t come any more loving than this sweet guy, and his happy place is wherever his people are. He’s smart and happy and he’s proven that he makes *wonderful* babies.
