The Springerdoodle

A Springerdoodle (or Sproodle) is a mix between a purebred English Springer Spaniel and a purebred poodle. Springerdoodles are a very sweet and affectionate dog breed. Like all of the doodles lines we breed here, Springerdoodles are highly intelligent and love spending time with people.

We are often asked about the energy levels of Springerdoodles. “Aren’t Springerdoodles really hyper and high-energy?” people ask. Our Hanson Hill Springerdoodles are NOT like this. They are ideal companion dogs. Many people are familiar with the Springer hunting dogs and don’t want a dog with that much need for exercise and energy outlet. HOWEVER, there are TWO different kinds of English Springer Spaniels—the FIELD Springers which are the high-energy, high prey-drive hunting dogs, and BENCH Springers, the thicker, longer-haired Springers often seen in (and winning) dog shows. We breed Springerdoodles from a line of purebred BENCH Springers from Minnesota. They are the most cuddly, loving dogs we have ever owned. We say about our Molly, one of our Springer mamas, that if there’s a lap, she is in it!

You can be confident that the temperament of a Hanson Hill Springerdoodle that you adopt will be excellently suited for family life and enjoyably calm and teachable. Like our Goldendoodles and Irish Doodles, they are very social dogs that play well with small children and other pets, having been well-socialized with a variety of people and animals during their time with us.

Our Springerdoodles will weigh an estimated 25 – 45 pounds, depending on the sizes of the parent dogs. They have fluffy to curly coats that are low- to non-shedding. They come in black & white and liver & white, with some puppies having additional light-to-golden brown markings.

Springerdoodles live an average of 10-15 years. You’ll have years of fun outside play and cuddly lap time to enjoy with your puppy.
